  • Barnett Shale Production Growth – March 2011

Barnett Shale production from the 24 counties of North Texas stood at 8,990,889,617 MCF gas (8.991 trillion cubic feet of gas) plus 25,873,680 barrels oil/condensate on January 1, 2011, according to research of Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC) records on March 4, 2011, by the Powell Shale Digest©. Production was from June, 1982, and included 15 RRC designated Barnett Shale Fields. The huge Newark, East (Barnett Shale) Field was joined by only six other fields still producing from the original 15 fields as shown in production for the year 2010. The data included production from 297 wells in the RRC Pending files as of 12-31-2010 as shown by Powell Shale Digest.

Another research project by Powell Shale Digest in the Barnett Shale the week of March 6, 2011 showed that in December, 2010, the average daily production in the Barnett Shale was 5,405,888 MCFGPD (5.4 billion cubic feet gas per day) plus 16,908 BO/BC day. On that basis, the Barnett Shale natural gas production passed the 9.0 trillion cubic feet of total production on January 2, 2011.
